It is very interesting in light of the southern California fires that when I sent an email to the Park City Council regarding the cleanup of dead trees that have been in and around the city for years, especially on Deer Valley drive and Royal Street, that I received no response. Yes, they recently had controlled burns of brush but have left the dead trees standing. It is interesting that they so want the area to be at the top of the list of ski areas in the United States but refuse to clean it up.
I also asked them about an evacuation route for Deer Valley, where i reside. No response. I also asked why the city’s snow removal drivers keep covering up the fire hydrants. No response.
I have also asked for several years why the city keeps building with all of us having to conserve water. No response.
I truly believe the City Council only is concerned about development with no concern about their citizens. A prime example was their willingness to have taxpayers provide funds for the parking structure at Deer Valley. How long have they known about Deer Valley’s desire to build on their property? Since 1980, when it opened but have not done anything with the roads. Does that tell you something?
As we have all seen, elections have consequences and recalls do as well. So I say to all citizens and second-home owners: Rise up and make this council responsible to us, not to developers, and respond to its citizens when they ask about something as important as fire protection.
