Learn the ‘Secrets of the Greatest Snow on Earth’
Winter sports enthusiasts and weather hounds will get a chance to learn the “Secrets of the Greatest Snow on Earth,” a lecture by Jim Steenburgh, a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Utah, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The free presentation, culled from Steenburgh’s book of the same title, will be given at the Park City Museum Education and Collections Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Drive. Park City Opera: ‘In My Garden at Night’
Park City Opera will perform at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Park City Gardens, 4459 N. S.R. 224. The immersive experience, part of the “In My Garden at Night” performances, will be set in Park City Gardens’ greenhouse. Tickets are $55 for general admission and $75 for premium seating, and the price will include a glass of bubbly and refreshments. ‘Gwyneth Goes Skiing’ at the Egyptian Theatre Run
“Gwyneth Goes Skiing,” a theatrical comedy with music, will run Jan. 8-18, at the Egyptian Theatre. The production — created by, acted by and co-produced by Joseph Martin and Linus Karp — is inspired by the trial between skiers Terry Sanderson and actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Junior & Transportation 20th Anniversary Show
Junior & Transportation will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a performance for ages 21 and older on Friday, Jan. 9, at Downstairs, 625 Main St. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the band — guitarist and lead singer Junior Richard, guitarist Jeremy Whitesides, bassist David Mealey, keyboardist Adam Fifield and drummer Matt Wilson — will take the stage between 9:30 and 10 p.m., before the night closes out with DJ Bangarang. Mining History Ski Tour Canceled
The Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History Ski Tour scheduled for Jan. 10 has been canceled , due to the Thaynes lift being closed. As a significant number of the mining structures are located there, organizers decided to cancel the tour. They hope it will open by the next tour, scheduled for Jan. 26.
