I would like to state that I too am against the Dakota project. That being said, stop blaming the County Council. This is a state issue and always has been.
I give credit to the council for getting the best deal that they could in an impossible situation. Any vote against is purely ceremonial. If an agreement wasn’t reached, the Legislature was going to ram it down our throats with no input from us. Just look at what happened in Hideout and the rarely used (except for pickleball apparently) Park City Film Studios.
The Legislature is full of developers and folks who think they know better than local governance (overturning the plastic bag ban, for example). I don’t like it either, but if you want to be mad, turn your anger at them.
Once you realize (and they more than threatened to do so) there was no chance for “no,” the only option is what we got.
