Chris Conabee, the chair of the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission, has resigned from the panel following a change in his job as a principal at Utah Development and Construction.
Conabee said he has taken on some additional roles at the Salt Lake City firm, which led to his decision to step down.
“I’m going to have to do a little bit more travel and I may not be able to make the meetings all the time,” he said.
Conabee was appointed in December 2020 to replace Malena Stevens after she was elected to the Summit County Council. He served the remainder of her term, which expired in 2022, and was appointed to a second term that February.
The Summit County Council will appoint a replacement to serve the rest of Conabee’s three-year term, which ends in 2025. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Dec. 4: summitcountyutah.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=547
He would like to serve again on the Planning Commission if work lightens up, Conabee said.
“I always try to do some public service,” he said.
Conabee’s service has included stints on the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Board, the Salt Lake Hotel/Convention Center Select Committee and the Point of the Mountain Development Commission.
The Planning Commission is made up of seven residents from the Snyderville Basin area of Summit County. The commissioners’ responsibilities include preparing the Snyderville Basin General Plan; reviewing and making recommendations to the Summit County Council about amendments to the zoning map and Snyderville Basin Development Code; and hearing applications for conditional uses, long term temporary uses and subdivisions.
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Applicants must be residents of the Snyderville Basin Planning District for at least one year.
