We’re still a week away from Thanksgiving, but any time is a good time to be thankful for good fortune and outstanding people.
There will never be enough column space to list everything that makes Park City unique and desirable. Still, I’d like to begin the season of gratitude with a few fundamental acknowledgments.
First, I recently marked my fourth year as president and CEO of the Park City Chamber. During that time, Park City has changed my life, showing me that community is more than an idea, that it has real meaning in the world, and that a place where people are bound together by their love of their town, lifestyle, environment and excitement for the future really can (and does) exist.
Park City is a remarkable community where natural beauty, civic pride and collective effort come together to create a truly special place. The dedication of our elected officials, the selfless contributions of volunteers, and the hard work of local non-profits and businesses help to make Park City a thriving community.
Residents, with their kindness and sense of community, make it a welcoming and supportive environment for all who live, work and visit. Whether it’s maintaining the mountain landscapes, fostering vibrant local events, or ensuring sustainable growth, Park City’s people embody a spirit of collaboration and gratitude that deserves to be celebrated every day.
Thank you to everyone who plays a role in making Park City such a cherished and inspiring community!
Is there a stronger statement of that Mountainkind spirit than the 14th annual Live PC/Give PC event? In the 24 hours of Live/Give last Friday, 7,042 donors gave $5,145,757 to support our community, a remarkable commitment in a town of fewer than 9,000.
The Park City Community Foundation alone raised $641,210, which includes $274,234 for initiatives like Zero Food Waste, Youth United, Women’s Giving Fund, and Early Childhood Alliance. It helps that Community Foundation always finds brilliant ways to inspire giving, create inducements, and maximize donations.
I regularly hear from nonprofit executives, many of them chamber partners, how crucial Live/Give is to their operations.
I’m thankful that the 2024-25 ski season is set for an exciting start Friday as Park City Mountain opens. With the recent snowfall and the resort’s enhanced snowmaking capability, we are more than poised and ready.
Woodward’s Tubing will open on Saturday with ski and snowboard terrain opening on Nov. 29. Deer Valley will follow soon.
I’m also grateful for our more than 1,000 chamber partners who keep our economy, families and nonprofits going strong.
