Further comments by the CEO of Dakota Pacific, Marc Stanworth, about his concerns about making a profit and having the scale of a massive development to deliver investment returns are getting very tiring.
As others on these pages have pointed out, the voices of those who live here and vote here in Summit County have been clear about their project.
Dakota Pacific took a risk and made an investment based upon their perspective that they could bend county government to their will. They worked at the state level with the Legislature and have applied all their persuasive tactics in all their non-public meetings.
Their thesis that “build it and the horrible traffic will force UDOT” is just plain stupid and offensive. Do any of them live where they will be caught in the mess as a development?
Also, do any of the Summit County Council live where you, too, will be caught in the traffic mess created if their project happens at a scale they have pushed from what was a compromise?
From my experience, you go into business with those you trust. The voters who elected the Summit County Council have repeatedly questioned Dakota Pacific. Many do not trust them because it is apparent that all that matters are their investors, not the people of our community.
Stand strong, Summit County councilor. Listen to the public and the taxpayers of our community, and reject the increasingly larger Dakota Pacific development.
