It is with great pleasure and complete confidence that I encourage all Summit County residents to cast their vote on or before Nov. 5 for Megan McKenna, candidate for Summit County Council Seat C.
My husband, Jim Fleming, and I moved to Park City in 1984 to begin our teaching careers and raise a family. After 40 years of living here, we are now the old timers! We have seen many changes over the years and strongly believe we need a council member who also has deep roots in this community.
Megan and I were science teaching colleagues for many years at Treasure Mountain Junior High. I saw her resourcefulness, compassion, intelligence, good humor, boundless energy and leadership on a daily basis.
Exceptional teachers have natural talent and a strong work ethic. Megan has that and more. She quickly became a mentor for the students who needed her most and a leader among her colleagues. She is both principled and pragmatic.
Megan is the right person at the right time to represent our community. She is one of those rare Summit County residents who was born and raised here. Her career experience as a Park City School District educator, tourism industry employee, and current advocate for the nonprofit organization Mountainlands Community Housing Trust provide a holistic perspective on the needs and issues facing the residents of our county.
She would make an excellent council member who represents people from diverse backgrounds, problem solves, compromises and achieves the results that make Summit County a great place for all of us to prosper.
