The U.S. presidential election is coming to a close. The Park Record has published multiple letters to the editor representing a wide view of opinions.
As I write this letter, the latest horrific example of incompetence is showing itself in multiple states impacted by Hurricane Helene. The Biden/Harris administration decided to spend FEMA funds on illegals rather than those funds available for tax paying American citizens. And now there is not enough money left for the upcoming hurricane season.
Rather than leading an immediate and timely response (as Gov. Desantis did and is still doing), Biden chose to sun himself for the weekend at the beach, and Harris was fundraising in California.
Why?
Park Record readers point out past statements President Trump has made. That is immaterial. Look at the results of ineffective leadership. Our country has been abandoned by a president and a vice president who is campaigning for the presidency but does not step up to fill a void.
I pointed out in an earlier letter to The Park Record the incompetence regarding the Afghanistan withdrawal which resulted in many deaths along with giving armaments to the Taliban and abandoning a newly built military base. Some of the armaments were used by Hamas during the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel.
How many more have to lose their lives because of the Democrats’ policies?
The question about who is more qualified as our president is no longer a question. We have results of four years of Trump, and results of four years of Harris to compare.
For those of you locally lucky enough to afford living in Park City and vigorously supporting Vice President Harris, you are speaking in an echo chamber. Stepping outside of your bubble, the results of four years of this administration have been devastating to American citizens. And the latest example is the victims of Hurricane Helene.
Thankfully, individuals like Corey Mills have been stepping up. He went to Afghanistan to rescue Americans. He is also in the Southeast rescuing Americans. But there is no leadership to help from the federal side. The federal response has been slow, confused and inept.
We deserve better.
