‘Silver Creek or Poison Creek’ Presentation
Dr. Michael Nelson, a retired senior mining consultant at Stantec Engineering who worked in the mining industry for Kennecott Copper, Consolidation Coal and EIMCO Process Equipment Co., will give a free presentation, “Is it Silver Creek or Poison Creek—Dealing with Mine Tailings in Park City” at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Park City Museum Education and Collections Center, 2079 Sidewinder Drive. ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the Egyptian Theatre
The Ziegfeld Theater Company will present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” Sept. 18-22 at the Egyptian Theatre. Friends of the Summit County Library’s Book Sale
Friends of the Summit County Library will host its autumn Book Sale from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21, at the Summit County Library Kimball Junction Branch, 1885 W. Ute Blvd. Thursday is for Friends of the Summit County Library members, and memberships will be available at the door. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Summit County Library programming. PC Reads ‘Raising a Reader’ Event
PC Reads, a dyslexia awareness nonprofit, will host “Raising a Reader — Why It’s Important & How to Motivate Your Child to Read” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Park City Hospital’s Blair Education Center, 900 Round Valley Drive. The event will feature Margie Gillis, founder and president of Literacy How, a nonprofit that empowers teachers to ensure every child learns to read. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion that will include Gillis, Dr. Louisa Moats, a nationally recognized authority on how children learn to read, and community educators.
