Governor Spencer Cox speaks to the crowd gathered for the Paris sendoff at Salt Lake International Airport
On Monday afternoon, delegates to the Paris Olympics gathered for a sendoff event at the Salt Lake City International Airport.
The event started at 1 p.m. on Monday with welcome remarks from Bill Wyatt, SLC International Airport executive director. Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games president and CEO Fraser Bullock then spoke, followed by Governor Spencer Cox and then Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall.
A cake cutting rounded out the sendoff. The delegation is slated to leave at approximately 3:50 p.m. and land in Paris tomorrow morning, local time.
