The Democratic candidate for Summit County Council soon will be decided. Your vote matters. Thomas Cooke gained a profound knowledge of the County Code and the laws governing development as a long-time member of the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission, an extraordinary seven years.
Experience matters. Thomas demonstrated his stalwart nature and regard for our community’s wishes. Thomas Cooke enforced the code holding developers accountable. He is prepared for the next step, the Summit County Council.
“Land use and land use code is at the core of how we manage growth and deal with problems.” This statement by Thomas Cooke could not be more true.
Recently, the Responsible Resort Area Development Coalition followed Land Management Code to turn away PEG’s proposed development for the parking lots at Park City Mountain. The group’s most successful means was to insist that the developer stick to the community’s rules rather than granting exceptions.
Thomas Cooke follows the rules. The community voiced strong opposition to Dakota Pacific. Cooke listened to the concerned citizens of Summit County and worked to maintain alignment with the community and county code.
It is eye opening to see the tactics used by some developers. The Planning Commission held firm to the community’s standard. Thomas will stand up for all areas of Summit County to hold the line against large outside developers trying to impose their growth patterns on us.
Thomas is willing to listen and to use an integrated approach, upheld by our codes, for growth that reflects the community values and visions. How refreshing.
