Seed Starting Class at the Swaner EcoCenter
The Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter will partner with Summit Community Gardens + EATS and Utah State University Extension Wasatch and Summit counties for a seed starting class at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at the Swaner EcoCenter, 1258 Center Drive at Kimball Junction. This hands-on class will teach the basics of seed starting, which includes planning, necessary tools and equipment, soil mixtures, watering, fertilization, lighting and more. Free ‘In the Dirt’ screening
The Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter will partner with Park City Film to host a free screening of T.C. Johnstone’s “In the Dirt,” not rated, at 7 p.m. on April 25 at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium. “In the Dirt” tells a story about healing and hope cycling brings to the Navajo Nation with former procyclist Scott Nydam and a group of Native cyclists. Following the screening will be a panel discussion, moderated by Bicycle Collective Executive Director Donna McAleer, featuring Nydam, José Chacón, Park City Community Foundation’s equity and access manager; “Outdoor Auntie” Ashley Cleveland, Outdoor Afro alumni and advisory board member of the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation, Jordan River Commission. ‘In Conversation’ at the Kimball Art Center
The public is invited to attend “In Conversation,” a discussion with artist Rodrigo Valenzuela and art historian James Swensen ,at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at the Kimball Art Center, 1251 Kearns Blvd. The event will focus on the art center’s current exhibit “Under Construction,” which includes Valenzuela’s work and Lewis Baltz’s “Park City” series. Swensen and Valenzuela will explore both artists’ practices and venture into broader conversations and themes within contemporary photography. Miners 9 Exhibit at the Miners Hospital
Miners 9, a group of artists based in the Wasatch Back, continues its monthly exhibit from 2-7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, noon-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, and noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, at Miners Hospital, 1354 Park Ave. The public can interact with the artists, who create an array of paintings, jewelry, sculpture and encaustic assemblages. Admission is free.
