It is with such gratitude that we Park City senior citizens thank both Park City Municipal and Summit County for their tremendous support during this past year.
With 20% of our area population over age 60 now, our current senior center is bursting at the seams with new members, activities, programs, events and opportunities to gather and socialize together.
To meet these demands, we have been working with the city to plan and build a spacious new center and mixed affordable and senior housing complex on the parcel on Woodside Avenue where our center lies. After a year of research, needs assessments, surveys and spatial designs, the city has now issued a request for proposal to developers as the next step in the process. Stay tuned as we move forward!
And there’s more! Summit County, which staffs the center and provides delicious twice-weekly lunches (along with Mountainland Association of Governments), has just increased its staff to allow our center to be open and staffed a third day! This is such exciting news and will increase opportunities for seniors to gather, learn and enjoy new programs. As hundreds of studies have shown, active local senior centers are key to a safe, healthy, happy life as we age.
If you are over age 60, please join us by becoming a member! Our website is ParkCitySeniors.org. We are located at 1361 Woodside Avenue and starting March 4 we will be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays we open to members in the bridge and mahjong classes. Lunch, which requires an advance reservation, is served on Mondays and Thursdays.
This is a fun, diverse group of people, so expect everything from skiing, hiking and tai chi to museum visits, art classes and eagle watching to concerts, puzzles, cards — and everything in between!
