Any Summit County-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit eligible to seek funding for projects that address one of Rotary International’s areas of focus: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies and or protect the environment.
“For over 40 years, Park City Rotary has funded projects throughout Summit County that align with the humanitarian aid mission of Rotary International,” said Steve Yapp, the club’s chair of grants. “Last year, we awarded $30,000 to seven organizations, including EATS, who supplied over 5,000 pounds of fresh fruits to schools for students on free and reduced lunch.”
Other recipients included Hope Alliance, Dream Big, SOS Outreach, Park City Adult Education and Mountain Town Music.
All of the grant funds are raised at Park City Rotary’s annual Running of the Balls, held on Miners Day.
“These funds represent donations from residents across our community and from visitors who support us at the Miners Day Parade,” said Yapp. “Our club members consider it a privilege to be able to empower local organizations to serve the community with our grants.”
The deadline for completed applications is Feb. 9. Awardees will be notified by March 4 and receive their grant checks at the Rotary Club’s Community Awards Luncheon on March 19.
