Ice Castles in Midway will open at 11 a.m. on Monday, delayed by an unseasonably warm December. Suffice to say that obstacle no longer exists.
Ice artisans are working around the clock to get the attraction in the Wasatch Back ready for the weekend, Ice Castles officials said. The interactive experience will feature ice-carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones, and cascading towers of ice embedded with color-changing LED lights.
This season, the icy fortress is also adding a soda and hot chocolate bar. The Soda Bar will offer a variety of winter-themed hot chocolate and soda drinks.
“We’re excited to finally announce our opening day in Utah,” said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird. “Mother Nature has thrown us a few challenges this season, which delayed our opening. While winter doesn’t always come on our schedule, we’re thankful that it does come eventually.”
Ice Castles has been bringing fairy tales to life since its inception in 2011. Founder Brent Christensen developed the patented process used to create Ice Castles while attempting to build a winter playground for his kids in the front yard of their home in Alpine. The project drew crowds to Christensen’s frozen creation. Ice Castles has since turned into an international tourist attraction.

Realms locations in New York and Wisconsin.
