This fall, I took a class at Park City High School that was geared around teaching us how to operate drones safely. As a part of this class, I learned a lot about how drones work, and even got to fly a few different types around the school.
Before I took this class, I already owned a small drone that I frequently flew around my house for fun. I wasn’t very good at flying it, but after taking the drone aviation class at Park City High School, my skill level increased drastically, and I became much more confident flying my drone.
The other benefit of taking this course is that it teaches you all of the information you’ll need to know in order to obtain a Part 107 FAA drone license. What does this license allow you to do? Well, Part 107 is a set of rules and regulations that has everything to do with making money off of flying drones. Unless you have a Part 107 license with the FAA, you are not allowed to use your drone’s images or videos to make money.
Before you hire someone for real-estate aerial photography here in Park City, be sure to confirm with them that they possess a Part 107 license. If the person you hired doesn’t have one, it is illegal for you to pay them for their work!
