Kelsie Remington, 21, and Poul Larsen, 37, are both dead after Larsen lost control of his Ram pickup truck around 4:40 p.m. Friday around mile marker 47 on U.S. Route 40 near Strawberry Reservoir and collided with Remington and her 21-year-old husband in their Honda Accord.
The husband, who was driving the Accord when the accident occurred, survived and was transported from the scene in serious condition. His identity has not been officially released, though social media posts from Remington’s account show his name is Chase Tingen.
According to Utah Highway Patrol public information officer Sgt. Cameron Roden, Larsen was traveling east when he lost control of his vehicle. The roads, Roden said, were icy and slick at the time.
A public GoFundMe and Facebook page show pictures of Remington and Tingen at their wedding in July.
According to the GoFundMe page, Tingen is recovering from his injuries in the hospital.
“Kelsie’s light grew even brighter when she married the love of her life, Chase,” the page reads. “She was over the moon to begin their life together, never shy to express her love for him to those around her. Chase was also never shy in expressing his love for Kelsie.”
The page explains Remington’s life insurance policy was expired and Tingen has a lot of recovering to do.
“Please consider making a donation to help ease the financial burden of all affected,” it reads.
In the most recent post on her Facebook page, Remington expressed her thankfulness to God and anyone else who showed the young married couple support.
“I choose you for time and all eternity Chase,” she wrote.
