Rosemary Shorr

January 30, 1979 – October 18, 2023

Rosemary Shorr, age 44, died in her home in Salt Lake City on October 18th 2023.

She was a graduate of Park City High, where she won 2nd place in the state science fair, and became Principal Harpist for the Utah Youth Symphony. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Scripps College, double majoring in Women’s Studies and Art History, leading to a lifelong love affair with artistic expression as well as a devout dedication to human rights.

Rosie loved music, dancing, and songwriting; one of her final creative acts was writing silly song lyrics for her three-year-old nephew. She loved trying new things, eating new foods, exploring new places, reading new authors, and getting us all to fall in love with the new alongside her. They say curiosity is the opposite of fear, and if that’s true, then Rosie lived a fearless life. Her big, indomitable heart is an inspiration to all who carry her memory.

She is survived by her father and stepmother Greg (Helene) Shorr, mother Kathleen Haynes, brother Ian, sister-in-law Makaela, nephew London, aunt and uncle Evan & Judith, cousins Meagan & Julia, her in-all-but-blood aunt Wendy, and best friend Nathan.

Memorial Services will be held at 3 PM on November 17th at the Alliance House of Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://www.alliancehouse.org/donate
