The first time I met Ed Parigian was in 2013. Ed was tutoring at Mega Genius, my daughter’s after-school program. He was a favorite with all the kids. We later became good friends while socializing our dogs daily at the Library Field for over 10 years. Ed has been a volunteer and activist in our town for over 17 years. Ed embodies the qualities we want in our city councilors: leadership, vision, civic passion, budgeting skills, knowledge of town history and knowledge of the city’s responsibilities.
Ed showed leadership and vision by heading the effort to save the Library Field in perpetuity. Ed serves on multiple city boards. He was recently the chairman of the Recreation Advisory Board, and is currently the treasurer of Recycle UT. He demonstrates his civic passion by volunteering at Recycle UT, KPCW, the Egyptian, PC Institute, and on various trail and open space committees.
Ed has overseen large budgets throughout his career and is committed to fiscal responsibility. His knowledge of town history and resident concerns over the past 17 years gives him a leg up on the other candidates.
Child care and affordable housing are some of Ed’s priorities. His years of civic involvement gives him a unique understanding of how the city interacts between departments, different boards, the land management code and non-profits.
Ed is competitive in racket sports at the Marc, golfs at the Muni, refs at the ice arena, skis, bikes and supports the arts. In short, Ed knows and interacts with many diverse levels of our community.
