As we near the election of three members to the Park City Council, one gets concerned about how committed Matthew Nagie is to the role of a councilman.
I consider running the city to be comparable to running a good-sized company. You don’t run a company this size on your schedule — you run it on the schedule dictated by the issues at hand. In the council debate forum on Monday, Nagie stated his position clearly on the question about his availability. He stated he will be available after 3 p.m. on school days and full time in the summer.
A great deal of council business is done well before 3 pm. There are a multitude of critical major decisions the new council will need to make in 2024 and beyond. All council members, as a team, need to make the time available to deal with them.
We can’t have council people who are not present to listen to all the background and make votes on a part time basis. We have people who are serving today on the council and do whatever it takes. That’s part of the commitment they made. That’s what all the other candidates have committed, too.
We need people on the council who will give the time necessary and when necessary to run Park City. Voters need to take this issue seriously!
