The Rocky Mountain Power Foundation has issued a new round of grants to Park City area organizations that are committed to fostering resilient cities, towns and natural areas in the region.
The foundation is donating a total of $167,500 in grants across the three states it serves to underwrite programs and projects ranging from affordable housing access, job training and rural economic development to ecosystem preservation, trail restoration and nature-based education, according to foundation officials.
“These organizations lift up our communities and protect our natural surroundings for future generations,” said Andy Badger, Rocky Mountain Power regional business manager. “It is an honor to support their inspiring work and help build communities where everyone can flourish.”
This round is one of the four grant cycles offered by the foundation annually.
The following four grants totaling $16,000 went to Park City organizations:
Habitat for Humanity for Summit and Wasatch Counties to support Silver Creek Village affordable housing, the Habitat ReStore home resale shop and consumer financial literacy training that helps prepare people for financial stability and homeownership.
KPCW Radio to help the nonprofit public radio station create public service announcements in Spanish, allowing nonprofit organizations and municipalities to connect with more people in the region’s growing and increasingly diverse local communities.
Summit Land Conservancy for its Utah Headwaters Initiative, which focuses on saving land to protect the Great Salt Lake Watershed and sensitive ecosystems in the Wasatch Back.
Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation for its initiative to inspire active lifestyles and a lifelong love of sport while helping children develop social, emotional and leadership skills.
The Rocky Mountain Power Foundation is part of the PacifiCorp Foundation, one of the largest utility-endowed foundations in the United States. The foundation was created by PacifiCorp, an energy company that serves over 2 million customers across a six-state region in the West as Rocky Mountain Power (Utah, Wyoming and Idaho) and Pacific Power (Oregon, Washington and California).
