The Utes will be taking on the USC Trojans Saturday at 6 p.m., in one of the many marquee matchups of college football’s week eight. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX, and Utah will be looking to edge back into the CFP discussion with a win. A loss for either side would all-but-eliminate the two teams from CFP contention, and further muddy the Pac-12 Championship picture if it happens to the Trojans and their superstar QB Caleb Williams. A major key to victory for the Utes will be the potential, mid-season arrival of star QB Cam Rising, who was cleared for full-practice following week one, however has yet to return from January knee surgery. Without Rising, Utah’s offense has fallen from the elite in the sport all the way to the bottom of the FBS, failing to support another Kyle Whittingham defense that’s ready to contend.
