Alterra Mountain Company, owner of Deer Valley Resort, on Wednesday morning announced its intention to purchase Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing in Blue River, British Columbia, Canada. Upon closing, the heli-skiing operation will further expand the company’s premium heli-skiing portfolio, complementing CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures, Alterra officials said.
The choice of Alterra to continue building on the Wiegele legacy was guided by the Wiegele family’s respect for the wilderness and mountain environment, Alterra officials said. In addition, Alterra said it recognizes that the company lies within the territory of the Simpcw First Nation and intends to consult and work with the nation throughout the ownership process.

The 1.5-million-acre ski terrain and its 1,000 peaks offer varied terrain for all levels of snow enthusiasts. The operation consists of 22 handcrafted log chalets, a 20,000-square-foot main lodge, the exclusive Albreda Lodge, and a full-service sports shop. The company is known for its experienced and guides, culinary offerings, service, and amenities.
