Park City’s recreation and public utilities departments have been awarded Polco’s 2023 Voice of the People Awards. The awards honor local governments that best engage residents and include public opinion in community decisions. This is the 15th year of the awards, presented by Polco and the International City/County Management Association.
“We serve residents best when we listen first then lead,” said Mayor Nann Worel. “Public utilities and recreation are two crucial quality of life responsibilities we have as a city and I am proud to see that our work to prioritize listening to residents is recognized.”
The award categories include “excellence” or “transformation” in economy, safety, natural environment, health and wellness, mobility, education, parks and recreation, utilities, housing, finance, and online engagement.
“The entire recreation team is honored to be recognized for excellence in Parks and Recreation,” said Recreation Director Ken Fisher. “This validates the dedication, hard work, and fun that our team puts forth every day to further our mission.”
Many award recipients were nominated after receiving the highest or most improved ratings from The National Community Survey, a nationwide community livability assessment with the largest database of its kind and nearly a thousand participating municipalities throughout the last 30 years. “I am extremely proud of the work our team accomplished over the past 10 years to transform and improve the city’s water service. A large part of this transformation involved a complete rebuild of our water quality and treatment infrastructure, and the implementation of aggressive water conservation programs,” said Public Utilities Director Clint McAffee. “This award provides an opportunity to share and celebrate this accomplishment with our customers and our elected officials who have supported us in this effort.”
