Thursday morning just before 9 a.m., Heber City police officers tried to stop a Dodge Challenger at 500 North Main Street, according to a press release from the Heber City Police Department.
One roughly 140 mph chase later, the car was finally stopped with spike strips by Mile Marker 14 and Highway 40.
Instead of pulling over when officers initially tried to stop the vehicle for an expired registration that scanned as stolen, the release reads, “the vehicle immediately fled westbound on Highway 40 towards Jordanelle State Park.”
“Multiple agencies assisted in the pursuit,” it says. “The two juvenile occupants were detained. Both juveniles were booked into Juvenile Detention on multiple charges.”
The release also says the car had been stolen from Spanish Fork City earlier in the day at about 6:30 a.m., and had fled from Utah County sheriff’s deputies.
