The Park City Police Department in the middle of August received several reports involving deer, including a case of a carcass off a heavily traveled street.
Reports of deer sightings or collisions between drivers and deer are common, but the recent cases continue to highlight the danger of accidents. The cases included:
• on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 7:12 p.m., the police received several reports of a deer carcass outside a building on Kearns Boulevard. The police said some “are beginning to state that it is a health hazard,” according to department logs. State wildlife officials were contacted.
• on Aug. 16 at 4:28 p.m., the police received a report of a deer in the area of Monitor Drive. The animal was alive, but the person who contacted the police indicated “it stinks,” according to department logs. The person wanted an officer to respond and planned to be outside when the police arrived to point out the animal.
• on Monday, Aug. 14 at 9:09 p.m., a driver hit a deer on S.R. 224, apparently in front of a police officer who was also on the state highway at the time. It appeared from public police logs the officer needed to put down the deer as a result of the animal’s injuries.
