The Park City Police Department last weekend was informed of an issue with a stoplight that apparently led to a traffic backup.
The agency logged the case on Saturday, Aug. 5 at 5:09 p.m. at the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Bonanza Drive The stoplight was “staying red” and “not changing,” the police were told.
The person told the police they had been at the stoplight a “very long time” and traffic was “backing up very much so,” according to department logs. The police described the situation as a traffic hazard.

On Sunday, Aug. 6 at 11:21 p.m., the police received a complaint from someone on Sidewinder Drive, where a sport utility vehicle was reported to have been left in a location where it blocked a driveway. The person could not drive out, the police were told.
An officer pulled over a driver at 6:47 p.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and 11th Street after watching the vehicle make a U-turn. The officer issued a warning.
A sandhill crane, reportedly suffering from an unspecified injury, was seen in the area of Captain Molly Drive at 5:15 p.m.
A police officer at 2:36 p.m. stopped a driver in the area of the intersection of S.R. 224 and Meadows Drive, indicating the vehicle was traveling at well above the posted speed limit. The police said a radar clocked the vehicle at 70 mph in an area where the speed limit is 45 mph. Public police logs did not provide details about whether the officer issued a ticket or a warning.
An officer at 12:05 p.m. assisted a driver in the area of a trailhead by providing the vehicle a jumpstart.
An officer found a person asleep on a bench inside the Old Town transit center at 2:20 a.m. The officer woke the person up and the person left the building without incident. Public police logs did not provide details, but homeless people sometimes seek refuge in the transit center.
A person was suspected to be intoxicated on Park Avenue at 1:52 a.m. Public police logs did not provide details.
On Saturday, Aug. 5 at 4 p.m., a fire hydrant on Evening Star Drive was reported to be “spewing water.” The water was entering a nearby property, the police were told. Earlier that day, at 11:12 a.m., someone on Lucky John Drive reported a manhole outside a residence was “overflowing with water” and they lost running water inside.
Someone found a wallet at the Old Town transit center at 7:12 a.m. and contacted the Police Department.
The police at 10:04 p.m. received a complaint from the area of the intersection of Park Avenue and Heber Avenue about what was described as a bar that was “not turning down their music.” The person who contacted the police was not sure where the music was being played. The police logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
On Friday, Aug. 4 at 8:28 p.m., a hit-and-run traffic accident was reported in the area of Main Street and Park Avenue. Public police logs did not provide details.
The police at 7:25 p.m. received information about traffic issues in Old Town, including in the area of Woodside Avenue and Park Avenue. Someone described what was referred to as a “traffic jam” at the location and speeding drivers on Woodside Avenue. A little bit earlier, at 6:34 p.m., heavy traffic was reported at the intersection of Bonanza Drive and Deer Valley Drive. The person who contacted the agency described that “cars are turning around trying to avoid the traffic,” according to department logs.
A suspected drunken driving case was logged at S.R. 224 and Payday Drive at 11:51 a.m. Public police logs did not provide details.
On Thursday, Aug. 3 at 11:24 p.m., the police were told of a party in the area of 10th Street and Norfolk Avenue. The person who contacted the department indicated the location was a rented property. The police logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
Two barrels were reported to be either on the road on Kearns Boulevard or nearby the road at 9:39 p.m. The police said the barrels created a traffic hazard.
The police at 3:29 p.m. stopped a dump truck on Richardson Flat Road, indicating it did not have a license plate. The load was unsecured as well, the police said.
On Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 2:06 a.m., a generator in a construction zone on Park Avenue was reported to be “making a lot of noise” on Park Avenue. The police logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
On Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 9:53 a.m., someone reported an elevator was malfunctioning in a building on Gold Dust Lane. At least one person was inside the elevator. The police were told the “elevator moves” but was not opening. It was hot inside the elevator, but there were no medical issues, the police were told.
