For the first time, Best Friends Animal Society in Salt Lake City will be bringing their adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens to Park City’s Main Street for a fee-waived adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 5.
From noon to 4:30 p.m., the animals will be set up at Helly Hansen, 333 Main St., for visitors to meet and fall in love with these loving creatures. While not in collaboration with the Kimball Arts Festival, visitors and festival-goers alike can stop by for a baby animal pick-me-up.
“In addition to potentially finding your new best friend, Helly Hansen will take 25% OFF purchases if people donate pet food or supplies to benefit the animals at Best Friends in Salt Lake City,” say Best Friends in an email.
Best Friends is heading up the canyon with their rescued animals in search of more homes. “Salt Lake area shelters are at or exceeding capacity,” says Alina Hauptman at Best Friends. “By adopting, fostering, volunteering and donating, the community can help struggling shelters save lives.”
Best Friends Animal Society, like many shelters in Utah, is dedicated to achieving no-kill status in the state of Utah by 2025. Adoption is a necessary step toward that goal.
“Animal shelters can only create and sustain lifesaving programs if they have community support. Plus, when you adopt, not only are you saving a life, you’re making room for the next pet coming in. It’s really like you’re saving two pets with every adoption,” says Hauptman.
By making adoption more accessible to the Park City community, Hauptman is hopeful that the event will be a fun day of shopping and lifesaving.
