I encourage everyone in Park City to participate in a major community planning effort that will have generational impacts.

Back in 2009, the Park City community came together and built a pavilion in the affordable Parkside Apartments. During this process, led by the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club, I witnessed the power of kindness and bringing committed community members together.

During a recent experience visiting Washington, D.C., I again found that community engagement and collaboration across and within communities were common factors that defined successful communities. Simply put, when we work together the results are positive.

Today, I am excited to be a part of the Small Area Plan for Bonanza Park and Snow Creek as a member of the advisory committee, an effort that will help shape an important part of Park City for generations. I am happy to report that this is a community-led effort, and it is designed to address the planning needs and policy goals of all stakeholders through an inclusive decision-making process.

All this is happening concurrently with the important feasibility study happening at the city-owned 5-acre site within Bonanza Park.

As a Park City resident for the past 22 years (with an eight-year gap living in Peru) I have a deep connection and love for this community. I am impressed with all the effort going in to promote more diversity and inclusivity – and would love to inspire all your readers to become more involved and participate by providing their expertise.

Please take part in our survey in the language of your preference. The deadline to respond is this Friday, Aug. 4: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/bonanzaparkareaplan
