My wife Theresa and I have spent considerable time uncovering numerous problems with the 2022 tax assessment. The root of the problem lies with the state tax commission, as their “Verification” of assessments does not ensure that all properties are treated fairly and equitably as required by Utah law. The current Summit County Council is aware of the problem and chose to not take corrective action. This will force approximately 50% of our residents to pay more than their fair share of property taxes.
During our quest to right this terrible wrong, we met John “Jack” Murphy. Jack is running for Summit County council Seat E. We have been in contact with numerous elected officials and none have exhibited an understanding of the tax problem the way that Jack Murphy has. In fact, Jack Murphy has done more to try to address this problem than any of our elected officials, as he has helped us take the issue all the way to the state level.
Although it looks like our officials will not take action and correct the 2022 tax assessment, Jack has assured us that if elected, he will not allow this unfair, unlawful treatment to continue. We feel that our only chance to change this is to elect a councilman who understands and is willing to address the problem. Jack Murphy has shown that he will do this.
If you received an increase to your 2022 tax bill, it would be less if the existing laws were being followed. We will vote for John “Jack” Murphy. He has pledged that if elected, he will not allow this injustice to continue. You can find out more info on his website, www.JackForSummitCounty.org.
