Dear Amy Roberts, you know nothing about me. You’ve never called me to verify my words. Yet you wrote a whole column from a single quote used by a 25-year-old beginner reporter at KPCW.
You should be ashamed.
In another life, I taught journalism. You would have flunked my course.
But you would have flunked government, too. You say, “when the majority doesn’t care for your ideas, don’t change your ideas, instead make up a bunch of lies.” It appears you agree with our White House Press Secretary who defines extremism as “when you are not with the majority of Americans.”
I’m sorry I’m not with the majority. Perhaps you’d like me to go through a CCP-style struggle session. That way you can get me to think just like you.
Amy, the First Amendment was designed to protect the views of the MINORITY. But maybe you don’t like the First Amendment. Facebook and Twitter certainly don’t.
So, let’s talk about the “lies” in my letter. We had ten volunteers train and work the polls both for early voting and for the Primary. We observed the pickup of mail-in ballots and the processing of votes. On a 15-hour-long Election Day, we set up the polls, assisted voters, took down the station and returned everything to the clerk’s office.
Amy, I didn’t see you there.
There is a new state law requiring all drop boxes to be under 24-hour camera surveillance. Yet there is no way to access that video, no one reviews it, and there is no proof it is being saved. But it certainly pacifies the public.
In other states, as soon as polls close, workers rush to tally the in-person ballots. Not here. The clerk collects the ballots and sets them in the corner until tomorrow… or at least before the canvass. The same is true if you leave your ballot in any dropbox after 2 pm.
Now let’s talk about the canvass when the vote is certified by the County Council. Usually no one shows up. So, except for one County Councilor, they didn’t bother to show up, either. But how do you examine signatures and certify an election on Zoom?
And about “the Pillow Guy?” He had the audacity to ask viewers to file a Grama Request for the Cast Vote Records before they could legally be destroyed. All over America, County Clerks complied with this request. Not here. If “Utah has the most secure elections in the country,” as our Lt. Governor claims, then why are we so afraid to prove it?
Voting is our birthright. It is not up to citizens to prove an election is fraudulent – it is up to the government to prove they are secure.
You accuse Lindell of intentionally causing damage to a computer – never stating that damage was opening it up. You said he is being sued by two voting machine companies. But none of these lawsuits have even gone to court.
You accuse him of “stoking the fires of Xenophobia and party divide for the purpose of selling his pillows.” Amy, do you know what “Xenophobia” even means, because it doesn’t fit here? And as for profits, Lindell’s products have been dropped by almost every national retailer.
Amy, who are you to decide my “delusions run deep”? That someone you never talked to is an election-denier? And how do you know the Big Lie isn’t a lie?Maybe you’re the one who should buy a new pillow – to smother any impulse to launch another journalistic hit piece.
