Art board spots available

Have you ever strolled down Poison Creek trail admiring the recycled metal fish sculptures perched alongside the stream? Or passed through one of our many tunnels gazing at the beautiful murals? Or watched as tourists pose for selfies with Loosey the Moose or Franz the Bear on Historic Main Street? These fantastic artworks, and many others throughout town, were all recommended to our City Council by the Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB).

Park City Mayor Nann Worel and the City Council are looking for community members to serve on the PAAB to fulfill three vacant terms. The application deadline is Monday, May 2, 2022.

The PAAB’s mission is to enrich and connect the Park City Community through visual art in public spaces. Our vision is to inspire an entire community, celebrating Park City’s vibrant history, culture and environment by maintaining and preserving the Public Art Collection. The Board meets monthly to identify possible projects, review requests for proposals, select artist proposals, and make recommendations to City Council for approval and implementation. Recent acquisitions include the Old Town Transit Tunnel Mural by Chuck Landvatter and a collaboration with the Rich Martinez family for a sculpture at the Treasure Hill Trailhead.

I love living in Park City—and I am proud to serve as chair of the PAAB. We need diverse opinions and points of view on the Board to represent our diverse community. Those interested in applying must have full-time residency within the limits of Park City. On behalf of the PAAB and the interviewing committee, I hope you will consider applying for an open seat on Park City’s Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB).

For more details, visit the Public Art Advisory Board page on the city’s website at https://www.parkcity.org/government/boards-commissions/public-art-advisory-board.

The application deadline is 5:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022. To submit applications or questions, please get in touch with Jenny Diersen at [email protected] or 435-640-5063.
