Customers at the Tanger Outlets can now charge to their hearts’ content — and it has nothing to do with credit cards.
The outlet mall chain recently announced an initiative to equip several of its locations — including the one at Kimball Junction — with electric vehicle charging systems. That will allow customers with electric cars to juice up while browsing Banana Republic for new wardrobes.
Candice Wilson, general manager of the Tanger Outlets at Kimball Junction, said in an email interview with The Park Record that the initiative represents the company’s efforts to be eco-friendly. Another perk is that it will allow customers who drive electric vehicles but don’t live near the outlets to visit the stores without having to worry about running out of power.
"Tanger strives to be ‘first choice’ and truly cares about each of the communities where our centers are located," she said. "This is just one more amenity that will contribute to the ultimate Tanger shopping experience for our customers."
Wilson added that the charging stations have been well-received so far in Park City, a town with many residents who care about preserving the environment.
According to a press release, Tanger is also pursuing using solar energy at some of its locations, but there’s no word on when such technology may make its way to Kimball Junction.
