The Park City Police Department last week received several complaints involving loose dogs, including at least one dog bite.

The cases last week continued a series of dog-related reports that have stretched since the spring. The reports also included complaints about dogs off leashes and dogs left in vehicles.

The dog bite was reported at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 4 on a bicycle path in the vicinity of Bonanza Drive and Deer Valley Drive. A parent contacted the police indicating their son was bitten. The bite broke the skin, the police were told. Public police logs did not provide details.

Some of the reports last week included:

  • on Saturday, July 4 at 1:38 p.m., several loose dogs were reported in City Park.
  • on Friday, July 3 at 1:12 p.m., the police were called to a location along Norfolk Avenue, where a dog was apparently stopping someone from leaving a yard. The dog may have bitten someone’s elbow, the police were told.
  • on July 3 at 9:56 a.m. a dog off a leash was reportedly seen on the 1200 block of Park Avenue. A loose dog was spotted just earlier, at 9:48 a.m., at City Park.
  • on Thursday, July 2 at 2:33 p.m., a dog was seen inside a sport utility vehicle on Main Street. The police received two reports. One of the people who contacted the police indicated the dog had been there more than 20 minutes.
  • on Wednesday, July 1 at 7 p.m., a dog was reported to be left in a truck for 10 minutes on the 900 block of Round Valley.
  • on July 1 at 9:18 a.m. and at 9:03 a.m., dogs were seen off leashes along Kearns Boulevard.

    The reports last week were similar to those that have been logged since the spring. The dog bites and the dogs left in vehicles are especially notable since they involve the potential of harm to people or dogs.

    A leash law is in effect in public places in Park City except the dog park at Quinn’s Junction.
