The Park City Police Department last week received a series of reports of accidents involving vehicles and deer.

In at least one case the deer apparently died as a result of the accident. In another one, a police officer needed to put an injured deer down.

The cases included:

  • on Friday, Oct. 24, a driver apparently hit a deer at 7:25 p.m. at or close to the intersection of Bonanza Drive and Deer Valley Drive. The animal got up and ran away, the police were told. Just before, at 7:23 p.m., an accident involving a driver and a deer was reported at the same location. It was not clear from public police logs whether the two reports involved the same accident or different ones.
  • on Tuesday, Oct. 21, a vehicle and deer collided at or close to the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Bonanza Drive at 11 p.m.
  • on Tuesday, Oct. 21, an injured deer was spotted somewhere along Lucky John Drive at 5:20 p.m. The police were apparently told the animal needed to be put down. The deer was not at the scene when the police arrived, though.
  • on Monday, Oct. 20 at 10:45 p.m., a deer carcass was seen in a travel lane along S.R. 224.
  • on Oct. 20, a deer was seen in the road at 5:14 a.m. at or close to the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Aerie Drive. An officer put it down with one shot.

The deer reports were logged as the Police Department has logged a number of other wildlife cases in recent weeks, including a series of moose sightings.
