A water line at Park City Mountain Resort broke late in the morning on Thursday, sending the water skyward for part of the day.
Brian Suhadolc, the director of mountain operations, says the water line is part of the PCMR snowmaking system. It is buried two feet deep. The resort was testing the snowmaking system, pumping in water and air as if it was starting, when the break occurred.
PCMR needed to drain the water from the snowmaking system to repair the line. The break occurred on the Silver Hollow run. The plume of water was visible from numerous points.
A PCMR crew dug up the line and welded it together.
