The Park City Police Department last week received reports involving wildlife issues in the city, including moose sightings and a beaver dam.

The moose were spotted in Old Town and drew onlookers, the police indicated.

The Police Department regularly receives wildlife reports. The cases last week included:

  • on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 9:59 a.m., a moose was seen in the road along the 2200 block of Deer Valley Drive. The animal was seen headed into the nearby woods.
  • on Sept. 27 at 8:56 a.m., a deer carcass was discovered somewhere along S.R. 224. Unspecified vehicle parts were also found at the scene. The police removed the carcass and, apparently, the vehicle parts, from the center turn lane.
  • on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7:25 p.m. a cow moose and a calf were seen in the vicinity of the 900 block of Park Avenue. People were attempting to take pictures of the animals, the police were told.
  • on Sept. 26 at 12:47 p.m., two moose were seen on the 900 block of Park Avenue. The animals were in a grassy spot and were not leaving the location, the police were told. A large crowd of people gathered to look at them.
  • on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 10:47 p.m., an injured deer was seen in the vicinity of City Park, apparently close to one of the streets that border the park. The animal needed to be put down, the police said.
  • on Sept. 25 at 9:54 p.m., the police received a complaint from Racquet Club Drive, where a raccoon was reported to possibly be suffering. Public police logs did not provide details about the raccoon’s condition. The animal apparently needed to be put down, the police were told. The Police Department received a second call about the raccoon.
  • on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 2:59 p.m., a beaver dam was reportedly spotted just off the Rail Trail. Police logs indicated the Park City Streets Department would be contacted.
