A local destination management company is celebrating 25 years in business.
RMC, which opened a branch in Park City in 2008, specializes in hospitality. Owner and founder Shawn Thomson-Palermo said companies hire RMC to plan every aspect of trips for their employees. Many are incentive trips, where RMC organizes themed events, team-building activities and VIP services, among other services.
“We’re kind of like a one-stop shop,” she said. “When their feet touch the ground at Salt Lake City Airport, from that moment until they leave, we handle all of the events, activities, transportation, all of it.”
Thomson-Palermo said Park City has been a perfect fit for RMC, which originated in Aspen, Colo. RMC books outdoor activities, such as fly fishing, rafting and skiing for groups of as many as 300 at once.
“The mountains are a fantastic backdrop for the outdoors,” she said. “There’s so much for us to do.”
But what really sets Park City apart is that it combines the outdoor opportunities with a vibrant nightlife and service industry, a perfect combination for companies that want their employees to forget about the office for the duration of their trip.
“We’re so thankful to be in Park City,” Thomson-Palermo said, adding she was drawn to Park City after seeing it spotlighted in the 2002 Winter Olympics. “It’s a very unique mountain destination and we’re really proud to be a part of it.”
Thomson-Palermo said RMC has built itself on earning the repeat business of its clients, which is how it has managed to succeed for a quarter century. For that, she credited the dedication of her employees.
“They are the face of this company,” she said. “When they are out with our clients, their happiness, their dependability and their training are key in making us successful.”
Editor’s note: A previous version of this story mistakenly referred to the trips RMC offers as “vacations” and did not reflect that they include corporate events.
