Between Friday, Oct. 18, and Monday, Oct. 21, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls including the following:
Deputies stopped a man on Interstate 80 for a traffic violation, and a canine sniff of the vehicle was later performed. The man stated there was a small amount of marijuana in the front of his vehicle, but a search yielded over 50 pounds of marijuana in luggage in the rear of the vehicle. The man was arrested.
Deputies stopped a vehicle that was making lane violations, finding the driver to be intoxicated. He was not able to complete field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
A traffic stop was initiated on a driver for canceled registration. After investigation, it was determined the registration belonged to a previous owner. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was released on a citation.
A deputy was dispatched to a report of a vehicle burglary in the Snyderville Basin in which a suspect took several items, including a purse with credit cards. The credit cards were used at multiple locations in Salt Lake.
A Basin business reported that cash had been stolen from a cash collector. The door had been pried open and an unknown amount of money was taken. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence report in the Basin in which a man who was likely under the influence of drugs had assaulted a woman.
A man reported his truck was burglarized at Kimball Junction. It had been unlocked but nothing was taken.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence report in North Summit in which one individual was cited on a domestic violence assault charge.
After a traffic stop on U.S. 40, a driver and passenger were arrested on active warrants. During a search of the vehicle, two controlled substances were found, for which the driver could not prove he had a prescription. Both were arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.
A man reported that his roommate had assaulted him and informed the Sheriff’s Office, who was given victim’s advocate information.
A report of an individual breaking someone’s windshield was received, and the suspect was cited and released.
A dump truck in the Basin rolled over after its hydraulic ram broke. After a deputy spoke with the driver, it was determined another vehicle was involved. A follow-up investigation will occur.
Deputies arrested a female in the Basin who was intoxicated and had assaulted another individual.
A man in the Basin said he left his trailer at a house overnight and found it had been broken into, with multiple tools stolen. He suspected two men that he recently started working with of committing the theft.
A man in the Basin reported his travel trailer as stolen. He said it was on private property and that a chain on a gate had been cut through to get to it. There was no evidence or suspects at the time of the report.
A deputy arrested a man at the Justice Court who had been known to have a history of failing to make court appearances and who has had warrants in the past. The man had a warrant out of Wasatch County and was taken into custody.
