Some truck drivers in Park City last Thursday were stopped during a law enforcement operation to ensure the vehicles were safe.
State and local authorities occasionally conduct the inspection operations in an effort to ensure the safety of commercial trucks working in Park City. In some cases, trucks are removed from service or citations are issued for safety violations. Other trucks are cleared.
The Park City Police Department, which was also involved in the operation, says 21 inspections were conducted between three different levels. Seven commercial vehicles were taken out of service while eight others passed inspections without the authorities finding critical violations, according to the police.
The inspections yielded 19 violations that were classified as immediate hazards, or those that forced a vehicle out of service. Seventy-three violations were discovered that did not require a vehicle to be removed from service.
The authorities, meanwhile, issued six tickets, mostly for vehicles being over weight limits.
