It was fantastic to see so many local nonprofits and their supporters represented in this year’s 4th of July parade. The strength of our nonprofits is a true testament to our citizens. Earlier this year the Park City Community Foundation launched the Women’s Giving Fund in order to provide grants that will specifically support women’s and children’s initiatives through high-impact (high-dollar) philanthropy. The goal is to find 1,000 women to make a ONE-time donation of $1,000 each, establishing a million-dollar endowment by year’s end. Since the launch on April 11 there are 358 members!
Many of these members are young girls who are benefiting from hands-on experience in philanthropy. I applaud the families that are planting the seed and educating their children about the needs in our community and the invaluable joys of paying it forward. These young Parkites are our future, and with programs like the Women’s Giving Fund they will learn about the responsibility each of us has as a community member to act on our beliefs and help others.

Deer Valley says thanks to ‘the people’

On behalf of the staff at Deer Valley, a huge thank-you to everyone in the community who voted for us in The Park Record’s “Park City’s Best, People’s Choice” awards.
We are truly humbled and honored to have been chosen for awards in so many categories and are sincerely grateful for all of your support. Attending last night’s awards reception and visiting with fellow honorees really brought home what an incredible community Park City is and that we are all blessed to live and work here.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate the dedicated staff at Deer Valley for all of their hard work. I am proud to work alongside each of you.

Butwinski has done a fine job

Alex Butwinski has proven to share many of my same values as a 20-year resident of Park City. I’m pleased to support his second term on city council. Alex “gets it.” He understands how to keep Park City, our Park City. He understands we want that small-town feeling and, at the same time, we want to be a world-class resort destination. He likes to keep the city fiscally responsible while supporting the values we hold dear like environmental sustainability, open space, the feeling of a historic mining town, walkability and more. I’m pleased to support Alex and I hope that you will as well.

Dear Editor,
I am writing to support Alex Butwinski’s run for re-election for a Park City Council seat. I’ve admired Alex’s commitment to the city and his role over the past four years, and have no doubts he would go into a second term with the same levels of passion, now enhanced with the wisdom and experience of four years behind him.
Alex cares about the issues that are important to Park City, and has done excellently from a planning and financial position to educating himself on the issues, and voting thoughtfully and intelligently. And although he is a watchful ‘numbers’ guy, his interest in public art makes him the well-round public official that I’m proud to have in office.
I plan to vote for Alex in the upcoming primary to make sure our city has the best people representing them.

Arts-Kids’ online auction did the trick
Dear Editor,
Bidding for Kids, the Arts-Kids on-line auction, was a great success! We want to thank all of you who donated items to the event as well as the many people who participated in the auction. Bidders came from all over the country but most were our supporters right here in Park City, Summit and Wasatch Counties. We feel so grateful for your enthusiastic engagement in the on-line auctio . We regret not everyone got their bid, and we do want to congratulate those who did!
We are most grateful for the generous merchants in our town for giving us such quality items for people to bid on. I know you are being asked repeatedly for donations, so that makes your contributions even more special to us. Thank you! We are also thankful for the great publicity we received through The Park Record and KPCW. You are most generous to the nonprofits in this community- and there are many of us. We know people were reading and listening because they are telling us so!

Cindy Matsumoto for City Council
On August 13 we will go to the polls to determine which four candidates will compete for two seats on City Council in November.
Please support Cindy Matsumoto in the upcoming primary election. She has done an excellent job during her first term, making tough decisions that are good for our community.
I’ve worked with Cindy on the Park City Historical Society Board for many years. During that time, I’ve greatly enjoyed working with her. She brings a level head, humor and her business experience to our Board. She continues to push for Main Street’s central role in our economy. The funds that were secured through the Resort City Sales Tax during her term on the Council are necessary for the vitality of Main Street and Old Town.
As a long-time resident of Park City, my priorities are preserving Historic Park City, maintaining our unique sense of community, and responsible growth. Cindy is the right person to represent our community values in a second term. She has proven to be a valuable representative and a strong voice on the Council.
I appreciate that over the past four years Cindy and the Council have worked to improve relationships with the State and County to benefit regional collaboration.
The primary election is August 13th. Early voting starts July 30th. Cindy has my vote!
