A power outage cut off electricity to more than 3,400 customers in Park City Monday morning, a spokesman for Rocky Mountain Power said at 11 a.m.
Jeff Hymas, the spokesperson, said the outage started at 10:04 a.m. He said the outage was caused by an unspecified problem at a substation in Park City.
Hymas was not immediately sure what neighborhoods were impacted.
He said a Rocky Mountain Power crew had been dispatched to repair the problem. He said power was expected to be restored by 1 p.m. on Monday.
There was a bright flash and a loud electrical buzz-like sound on Park Avenue close to the pedestrian crossing outside Holiday Village at about the same time of the outage. Smoke briefly rose from the scene. It was not clear whether the incident on Park Avenue was related to the outage.
