The Tanger Outlet Center in Park City raised nearly $11,000 for the battle against breast cancer in 2011, which was all recently donated to the American Cancer Society – Great West Division in a special ceremony last month.
“Breast Cancer affects so many people throughout the country and throughout the world,” said manager Nancy Gray. “We want to increase awareness and help find that cure.”
“We’ve done this for many years and it seems like we’re increasing every year as awareness spreads,” she added.
Last year marked the 18th anniversary of Tanger Outlets chains supporting breast cancer research, with nearly $10M in donations since the program began in 1994.
“It takes all of us working together with a common focus and determination to beat this terrible disease,” said president and chief executive officer for Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Steven B. Tanger in a press release. “I am proud of our Tanger Team members in Park City for their continued hard work in fighting breast cancer and I thank our shoppers for supporting Tanger’s mission to find a cure.”
Beyond local donations, all Tanger Outlets locations celebrated the company’s 30th year by participating in the 2011 PinkStyle Campaign which ran from Sept. 15 to Oct. 25. With a $1 donation to local breast cancer beneficiaries, Tanger customers received a special Pink Card that provided 25 percent bonus savings at participating Tanger Outlet stores.
“This cause is something Tanger believes strongly in,” Gray said. “It affects so many people. It has touched the lives of so many even I personally know, people I love.”
