A man was airlifted from Tollgate Canyon on Saturday after his vehicle slid off Tollgate Canyon Road and rolled down a steep incline.
According to Summit County Detective Sergeant Ron Bridge, the driver and his wife were the only ones in the car when it hit an icy patch of road and rolled twice at 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon.
The passenger was able to exit the vehicle uninjured. The driver was in critical condition with non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Life Flight to the University of Utah Hospital. Bridge said a medical helicopter was called because transporting the injured man in an ambulance on the unimproved road was too difficult.
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash. The names of the two people involved have not been released but according to Bridge, they are not Summit County residents.
