The Park City Police Department last week handled at least three traffic accidents involving deer, cases that came as the first significant snow of the season continued.
On Saturday, Nov. 19 at 6:27 p.m., a deer was seen down on an inbound lane on S.R. 248. The animal appeared to be dead, the police were told.
Just earlier, at 5:54 p.m., a deer was reportedly struck by a driver at another location on S.R. 248. The driver was not at the scene, the police said, and public police logs did not provide details about the condition of the deer.
On Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6:17 p.m., a driver hit a deer on U.S. 40. The animal was moved out of traffic. Just earlier, at 6:01 p.m., two deer were reportedly seen in the road along the 1800 block of Park Avenue.
Deer and other animals typically head to lower elevations in search of food as the first significant snow falls at the higher elevations.
