The Sundance Ski Resort was named one of the world’s best hotels in the Fodor’s 100 Hotel Awards in 2011, competing against vacation properties from around the world.
“We are honored to be recognized by Fodor’s for their 100 Hotels Award.
It is especially rewarding to know that Sundance Resort’s commitment to creating an authentic experience for guests is recognized by such an esteemed travel publication,” said Chad Linebaugh, the Sundance Resort General Manager.
In the first year Fodor’s opened the competition to locations outside the United States, the Sundance Resort won in the category of Best Local Flavor, ranking with hotels and resorts in Switzerland, Greece and Jordan.
Fodor’s Deputy Editor, Erica Duecy, said the process has become more rigorous since the competition went global this year.
“What we liked about Sundance was its vision of incorporating art and nature into the resort,” Duecy said. It had interesting cultural programs as well as a beautiful terrain.”
“The resort presents an ideal experience of what people would want when they go to that region,” she added.
The award is just one of several state, national and international awards the resort has received since it first opened more than 40 years ago.
“In the end, we cultivated a list that really represents the best in the world,” Duecy said.
