The Memorial Building has a new tenant sort of.
Harry O’s will not be replaced by another night club, but the venue will host live shows again.
Park City businessman Paul Crowe has teamed up with Katheryn Burns and Kenny Griswold to create Park City Live, a company to promote concerts in the Memorial Building at 427 Main Street.
According to spokesperson Hilary Reiter, Crowe and Burns were formerly investors in Harry O’s.
A liquor license for the venue is unavailable, so the business will host special events and serve alcohol under one-time permits. If a license is obtained, Park City Live will likely change its business plan and open a night club, Reiter said.
Park City Live’s first event will be a New Year’s Eve party held by Ruth’s Chris Steak House. It will be a “mountain chic, black-tie affair” with a multi-course dinner and live music, she said. Tickets are not yet for sale.
The company then anticipates closing until the Sundance Film Festival, during which it will host multiple events, some private and some ticketed concerts.
After that the plan is vague. Reiter said the company is working to partner with local lodging properties to offer the Memorial Building as special event and live entertainment space.
“A big corporate group doesn’t necessarily want to stay at the hotel the entire time they look for alternative venues,” she said.
According to a press release, the Memorial Building offers 10,000 square feet of space with two levels and capacity for 800 people. It has a professional stage, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, a large dance floor and four bars.
How frequently the building will be used is unclear, she said.
“It’s an unfortunate situation now with the liquor license,” Reiter said. “It won’t be a dance club every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.”
The press release emphasized that a professional and competent firm is now in control of the building and will again host the kind of concerts that only it can accommodate.
