This year, a limited number of $25 lift tickets at Park City Mountain Resort will double as contributions to preserving Summit County’s open space during PCMR’s Benefit Days.

PCMR started Benefit Days in 2003, partnering with a different Summit County non-profit each year and donating 100 percent of the proceeds from their significantly reduced lift tickets to the organization.

According to PCMR Communications Manager Krista Parry, the resort has donated over $400,000 in the past eight years through Benefit Days.

“We used to open the resort a day early and that was our Benefit Day,” she said. “But that was not as popular, so we made the lift tickets valid to a certain date and it turned into a huge success.”

This year, the Benefit Day lift tickets will be valid from opening day, which is expected to be Nov. 19, until Dec. 16. Two thousand tickets will be sold for $25 each. The resort is partnering with Summit Land Conservancy and is expecting to raise $50,000 for the organization.

“We look for Benefit Day partners that really serve the community,” Parry said. “Park City Mountain Resort is always trying to reduce its carbon footprint and be a good environmental steward which makes Summit Land Conservancy a great fit for us. They do so much to preserve and protect the open space and educate the community.”

Cheryl Fox, Director of Summit Land Conservancy, said being picked by PCMR to be the beneficiary of Benefit Days was a wonderful thing.

“We are so honored to be a part of this,” Fox said. “The money that is raised through this will go towards our rainy day fund and to our general programs that save open space. When people donate money to our foundation, it goes right toward land being protected. But through campaigns, appraisals and surveys we incur some costs.”

This year, an additional 1,000 tickets will be sold at $25 each during Benefit Days with proceeds going towards PCMR’s Legacy Fund.

“Each year we do the Benefit Days but that only helps one organization a year,” said Parry. “There are so many great non-profits in Park City so we established the Legacy Fund so any non-profit can apply for a grant from the fund.”

The Legacy Fund will be run through the Park City Foundation. Parry said the $25,000 raised through Benefit Days will go directly into the foundation.

Benefit Day tickets are now available and can be purchased at Park City Mountain Resort’s Resort Services Office; Jans, Cole Sport and Zions Bank locations in Park City and Sports Den in Salt Lake City. Tickets must be purchased in-person, are limited to a maximum of four per person and will be valid from opening day through December 16.
