Another Way Montessori School was nationally nominated for the Power A Bright Future campaign sponsored by Clorox. More than 1,600 schools were nominated across the nation. The school with the most votes by Dec. 9, will receive a $50,000 grant from Clorox. Three schools will also be awarded $25,000 grants in the Play, Create, and Explore categories, according to Another Way parent volunteer Michele Roepke.
"We’ve been entered in the Create category because the specific grant that we’re going for would be toward Another Way’s Movement Integration Program," Roepke said.
If Another Way is one of the schools to receive an award, the grant money would help the school turn a hayloft into a retrofitted classroom.
"We would start renovations right away on the improvements for the hayloft. We are literally here ready to go and we’re confident that we are on the right track," Roepke said. "We are ready to hit the ground running."
The program will include several classes combined into one, including yoga, meditation and dance movement, which will help students become aware of their bodies, do better in sports and focus on academics, according to Roepke.
