The deadline for the Summit County Council to reach an agreement with Quinn’s Junction property owner Greg Ericksen over the location of Raleigh Studios was Nov. 1, but as of Tuesday morning, County Manager Bob Jasper said they have requested more time to discuss the possibilities.
Ericksen has two lawsuits pending against the Summit County Courthouse regarding zoning and building rights. Ericksen partnered with Raleigh Studios and wants to build the 400,000-square-foot movie studio on his property at Quinn’s Junction. He previously told the County Council he would pursue both lawsuits on Nov. 1 if an agreement was not reached.
"Nothing has been worked out yet. We asked to postpone the court date to continue discussions," Jasper said.
The County Council has discussed the option of conducting a land swap between the Boyer Company and Ericksen. In one possible scenario, the movie studio could be built in a portion of the Boyer Research Park’s open space near Kimball Junction and Ericksen’s parcel in Quinn’s Junction would become open space.
Ericksen told The Park Record Monday afternoon that discussions were still ongoing but he would not discuss specifics.
Park City Mayor Dana Williams declined to comment and said the city is not involved in the litigation between the County Council and Ericksen.
